1. First beautiful Scottish village that is worth visiting: Killin, Loch Tay
Our first recommendation Killin, a gorgeous village that is located at one end of Loch Tay. It takes just an easy drive from the historic town of Stirling to arrive there. This beautiful village should definitely be on your list of the top places to see in Scotland. One of the reasons why is its proximity to the lake, where you can do some sightseeing and enjoy water sports such as sailing and kayaking. But there’s more. Killin is home to the beautiful Falls of Dochart, a true delight to explore. Even if you’re not very experienced with nature exploring, it’s not difficult to get up close to the falls. From there you will have the most amazing view of them anyway.
Once you get to the Falls of Dochart, it is quite easy to get to the village itself as well. There are lots of places for you to stay or eat there, such as nice restaurants and pubs or cozy hotels. Another fun activity can be taking a hike across the Breadalbane mountains. There are some amazing views there and you can also rent a boat for salmon fishing. Other fun activities you can do include exploring the countryside or doing a tour of the loch by craft. It is located on the western tip of the island of Islay and visiting it is definitely worth your time. However, be prepared because getting there can be a bit tiring. You will have to take a ferry and do some driving, but the end destination is definitely worth it.
After you arrive there, you will have the chance to enjoy loads of amazing views. The most eye-catching one is definitely the fishing harbor that is surrounded by tidy white-terraced holiday homes. The residents of the village are also very friendly and will give you a warm welcome the moment you arrive. They are living relaxed and laid-back lifestyles that match perfectly with the peaceful vibes of their home village itself. Even though the activities you can participate in are not plenty, you will have a lot of time to explore the area. Take some time off and enjoy the idyllic and peaceful setting, visit the harbour and maybe do some birdwatching as well.
4. Beautiful Scottish villages that are worth visiting: Pittenweem, Fife
In the East Neuk of Fife, you will find loads of old fishing villages, the one next to the other. Some of them are Elie, St Monans, Anstruther, Cellardyke, and Crail. All of them are very picturesque and beautiful, but if you have to choose only one, we recommend Pittenweem. Crail might be the best known and most photographed, but Pittenweem has different things to offer. There is a small sandy beach and a sacred cave you should definitely explore. The harbor is small as well and after the residents do their fishing in the morning, you can visit the local market to buy some.
Before you visit the village, it might be best for you to book your stay in advance. During the summer season, things are very busy and it might be tricky to find accommodation at the last minute. After you sort this out, look out for activities and events that take place in Pittenweem usually in the summer. The Pittenweem Arts Festival for example is held every August and attracts visitors from all across the UK.
