Top 5 Series That Will Make You Travel in 2022

Despite the pandemic, the production does not stop which means that it is going to be a year of great premieres and big comebacks. No matter what 2022 brings, one thing is for sure: we will keep watching our favorite series. Bridgerton, House of the Dragon or The Lord of the Rings are only a few that will keep us on the edge of our seats this year. So let’s jump right into it and have a look at some of the upcoming series that will inspire you and make you want to travel in 2022.

Series That Will Make You Travel

1. Bridgerton

Pastel-colored empire-waist dresses, illicit affairs, glamorous balls, classic rom-com tropes, yes, this is Bridgerton! It’s one of Netflix’s most-watched series with 82 million households watching the show in its first month! And finally the highly anticipated season 2 is on the way! It will officially make its return on March 25, 2022.

It will come with a shift of focus though, as Daphne and Simon’s love story won’t continue. Season two, taking inspiration from the second book in Quinn’s series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, will follow the story of the eldest Bridgerton, Anthony, on his own quest for a “suitable” wife.

This series truly inspires us to travel to Britain and discover ornate stately homes and pretty parklands. Visiting Mayfair’s London, where most of the scenes were filmed, and the historic city of Bath is an absolute must. Take a sneak peak at Bridgerton season 2 by watching the trailer, plan your trip and discover the magnificent British countryside.

2. Stranger Things

Being one of Netflix’s biggest flagship shows, Stranger Things requires no introduction. It has enjoyed a great deal of success so far and at long last, season 4 has been confirmed to arrive in summer 2022. There is still no specific date, but it is on the horizon.

This is definitely going to be an exciting season, even more so since this is the first time the show travels beyond Atlanta. The shooting took place at locations around the Lithuanian capital, including the recently decommissioned century-old Lukiškės Prison. The prison just ceased operations last year. How creepy is that on its own?

So if you’re a fan of the show, you should visit the city of Vilnius and the beautiful country of Lithuania before watching the next season. It will be even more exciting this way!

3. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

After a dramatic season three finale, we finally know when The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is coming back. It has taken a bit longer than imagined, but the countdown for brand new episodes is officially on. It will drop on Prime on February 18, 2022.

The show’s title character hit Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, and more in season three and showrunners say fans can expect Midge to explore new locations in the upcoming season. However, Upper West Side in New York will always be the home base for Midge where filming has been especially active in the past couple of weeks.

Aren’t you excited to see what new filming locations feature throughout this upcoming season?! Ready to be plunged back into the complex world of 1960s America? We only have a couple of months to wait!

4. The Lord of the Rings TV show

Tolkien fans, start counting down! Amazon has confirmed that The Lord of the Rings television series will make its world premiere on Friday, September 2, 2022. We can expect that season one will contain eight episodes, which they will release weekly on Prime Video. Set during the Second Age of Middle Earth, thousands of years before The Hobbit, the new series will depict the long-feared re-emergence of evil in Middle Earth. We are so ready!

Moving the filming location

It is definitely one of the most exciting series coming in 2022 – if not the most exciting one! Filming took place in New Zealand, where the film trilogy was made. However, it is the first time that the production of any of the modern live-action onscreen adaptations of The Lord of the Rings has been outside New Zealand. It was announced that production was moving from New Zealand to the UK for the show’s second season. The first UK filming locations have been selected: Bray Film Studios in Maidenhead and Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire. The move to the UK will allow the British cast to stay close to home, meanwhile, the series is expected to hire a new UK-based crew.

One thing is for sure: the stunning landscapes of the first season will bewitch us just as they did in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. 2022 might be your year for taking a once-in-a-lifetime journey to Middle-earth. What an epic adventure it would be!

5. House of the Dragon

Game of Thrones undeniably had a huge success. This time the plot is set 200 years before what we saw in the famous series and will focus on the Targaryens. They haven’t announced a formal date yet and it seems most likely that we will see a release in the second half of 2022.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, we will get to see how the Targaryen dynasty ran before the days of the Mad King. It is a chance to see a time where dragons were far more prominent than in the era of Game of Thrones. The one-minute-long teaser of the spin-off series brings back George R. R. Martin’s fantasy world with its heart-wrenching plot twists and mind-blowing landscapes. Some of them are real-life shooting locations that are totally worth visiting: various locations in Morocco, the Castle of Monsanto in Portugal or Cornwall in the UK. Add them to your bucket list!
