6 Trendy hiking trails for this summer in Europe

Hiking is the ideal sport for those who love spending time in nature. It’s also an activity for which you don’t need a lot of equipment. The ultimate escape from your daily life. You find good hiking trails almost everywhere, even in regions that are more popular for other activities. However, I will show you 6 trendy hiking trails for this summer.

Three Peaks hiking trail – Dolomites – Italy

The amount of hiking trails in the Dolomites is insane. I would especially recommend you the Three Peaks hiking trail. As it is an easy hiking route, it’s ideal for beginners. It’s a 25km long trail that will take you about 5 or 6 hours. In case you don’t want to do it all in one day, you’ll find a few shelters on your way. These traditional huts are also the perfect place to take a break, eat something, and enjoy the beautiful view of the Three Peaks. If you want to sleep in one of the rooms, you should book it in advance. Furthermore, since 2009 the Dolomites are an UNESCO World Heritage, which makes it an even more popular destination.

The Nationalpark Plitvice Lakes is a touristic hotspot and one of the most beautiful national parks in Europe. This is because of its turquoise blue lakes, waterfalls, and green nature. You can decide between 8 different hiking trails from 3 to 18 kilometers. The best time to visit the Plitvice Lakes is spring or summer.

Trolltunga – Norway

Hiking trails

If you’re searching for the ultimate adventure, I recommend you the hiking trail to the famous cliff of Trolltunga. The trip starts at the Skjeggedal car park and ends in Trolltunga. It’s a 28km walk that will take you about 10 to 12 hours. Unfortunately, there’s no accommodation on the hiking trails. You need to bring your tent and equipment. That is if you don’t want to do the whole hike at once. Check the weather before you pick the day of your hike. Also, I recommend doing the hike between June and September.

Hiking trails: Bled – Slovenia

Hiking trails

Bled Lake is one of Slovenia’s most important and famous attractions. You can go on a boat trip to the tiny island in the middle of the lake or just walk around in the beautiful forest. Furthermore, you can walk up the hill facing Bled Island. It’s only a 1-hour hike but the view over the lake and nature is definitely worth it.

Lagoa – Algarve – Portugal

One of the most beautiful hiking trails in Europe is the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail. You start the walk at the chapel Senhora da Rocha and end at the stunning Carvoeiro beach. The hiking trail through nature is about 3 to 5 hours and it’s an unforgettable experience. You can take little breaks at various beaches of Lagoa.

GR20 – Corsica

Hiking trails

Finally, I will show you one of the most difficult hiking trails in Europe. The GR20 on the island of Corsica is 180km long and will take about 15 days. The starting point is in the town of Calenzana, in the northwest near Calvi. You will finish your trip in the southeast of the island in the town of Conca. Along the way, you will find some camping sites where you can install your tent or you can stay in one of the cabins. For this hiking trail, I recommend you to bring good equipment and it shouldn’t be your first long-distance hike! The best time for the trip is from June to October.
