Believe it or not, most visitors stay in the core of the city, where you can find international-standard hotels that are a reasonably short walk from Petra. You can also stay in traditional homes or lodges and if you’re lucky enough and book early you can even stay in a cave. Petra is for sure a must-see on your road trip through Jordan.

Furthermore, it is now the second-most popular tourist attraction in Jordan, just after the ruins of Petra.

Al Maghtas, the word for baptism in Arabic, got its name for being the baptismal site of Jesus Christ. It is an archeological World Heritage site located on the east side of the river Jordan. Not only it is the original location of the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the baptist, but it has also become a popular attraction for Christians.
